Tomer Hemed earned Albion a draw in their opening pre-season friendly in Switzerland today.

The Israeli target man, one of nine half-time changes, headed the equaliser in a 1-1 draw against St Gallen.

Hemed, who has slipped down the forward pecking order, nodded in a 59th minute corner taken by Oliver Norwood, back with the Seagulls after spending last season on loan at Fulham.

Saves by St Gallen's substitute goalkeeper Daniel Lopar from Viktor Gyokeres and Anthony Knockaert denied Chris Hughton's side victory.

Albion suffered an injury worry in the first half. Glenn Murray, last season's top scorer, had to be replaced after 34 minutes as the Seagulls trailed 1-0 at the interval.

Murray received treatment for what appeared to be a right ankle injury.

He tried to play on but was replaced by Gyokeres.

Albion fell behind a minute before the break when Nassim Ben Khalifa headed in a cross at the far post from Yannis Tafer.

Bernardo, the Seagulls' new Brazilian signing playing at right-back, was booked for a foul.

Minor injuries ruled out two more of the new signings, Florin Andone and Jason Steele.
