Albion new boy Yves Bissouma has revealed how a Crystal Palace player helped persuade him to join Albion.

The Malian midfielder signed for the Seagulls today after leaving French top-flight outfit Lille.

He took advice from out-of-contract Crystal Palace winger Bakary Sako before making the big Premier League move.

Now he hopes to make an impact with the Seagulls.

Bissouma told The Argus: “I chatted with quite a lot of people who advised me it’s a good league for my progression.

“It’s good to start at a club like Brighton who know what they want, an ambitious club.

“First of all I spoke to my agent.

“Then I spoke to Bakary Sako, who plays at Crystal Palace. Then Molla Wague, who was at Watford.

“They both said a lot of good things about the Premier League.

“It’s the dream of every player to come and play in the Premier.

“They said it’s different to Ligue 1 – but you see that on the TV.

“They said it’s quite physical, quite difficult but it’s the best league in the world, that says it all.

“To be a big player you have to prove yourself in the big leagues and that is what pushed me a bit to come here.

“I wanted to come and show what I can do in the Premier League and help the team move forward.”

Sako believes the Premier League is his perfect stage for Bissouma.

Albion's new boy added: “France have just become world champions but we all know what the English League is about.

“Ligue 1 in France is a good league but it’s nothing like the English league.

“Personally, I’m happy to be in the Premier League and I hope that smiles on me.”
