YVES BISSOUMA wants to make a name for himself with Albion – after shrugging off comparisons with Paul Pogba.

The Mali international midfielder completed a five-year-deal with the Seagulls yesterday.

He arrives from Lille for an undisclosed fee which falls short of the record £14 million Albion paid to PSV for Jurgen Locadia in January.

Bissouma has been described as the Malian Pogba.

But he aims to be his own man – while taking inspiration from his idol Yaya Toure.

Bissouma told The Argus: “Paul Pogba is a great player but we don’t have the same style of play.

“I don’t take myself for someone I am not.

“I admire Paul Pogba but I’m Yves Bissouma, simple as that.

“I watch players like Pogba, who I really like. But my favourite player is Yaya Toure.

“He is a great example for me, the top. He inspires me a lot.

“We play the same role. We play the same position.

“I watch a lot of matches and if I see he isn’t in the team I’m disappointed.

“He is my example.”

Bissouma is being helped through his early days with the Seagulls by Gaetan Bong, who previously played for Lille’s local rivals Valenciennes.

He said: “Gaetan has been like a big brother to me already.

“As soon as I arrived he looked after me, he spoke to me a bit about the Premier League, spoke a bit about here, life in Brighton and England.

“He has helped me and I know I will need him.”

Bissouma’s arrival is likely to signal the end of Albion’s interest in Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden.
