Albion went down 2-1 in a friendly at AFC Wimbledon today - after unscheduled early exits for Shane Duffy and Jurgen Locadia.

Duffy, who had minor groin surgery this summer, went off midway through the first half but did not look in great discomfort as he walked towards the changing rooms.

Locadia followed soon after the break, holding his upper thigh after being slide-tackled by defender Will Nightingale.

The striker appeared to be in some pain as he got to his feet and immediately asked to be replaced.

Albion were a goal down when Duffy departed.

They trailed to a sharp strike from Joe Pigott, who turned Ben Barclay and fired low past David Button on 14 minutes.

Wimbledon doubled their lead on the half-hour when Pigott headed down a hanging cross and Kwesi Appiah poked home from close range.

Albion had several chances in the first half, not least Locadia. His pace and clever running – helped by some shrewd supply work – saw him get in three times in the first half.

He was denied by goalkeeper Tom King after being set free by Dale Stephens and Pascal Gross.

And he fired past the near post when Beram Kayal put him clear.

Albion were a lot sharper after the break and Anthony Knockaert curled a shot against the far post.

Oliver Norwood, who had just come off the bench, reduced arrears by drilling home a penalty on 64 minutes after Aaron Connolly, sent on for Locadia, was fouled.

Anther sub, Richie Towell, later tested King at his near post.
