Albion transfer target Liam Moore was left out of the Reading squad for their friendly at home to Crystal Palace today.
Manager Paul Clement confirmed afterwards that the central defender has handed in a transfer request.
Moore, 25, has previously been involved in the pre-season plans of Clement.
Moore and Sheffield United's Jack O'Connell are Albion's top targets to become the fourth centre-back in Chris Hughton's squad with Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy and Leon Balogun.
Although the Championship transfer window does not shut until the end of August, Moore and O'Connell only have until the ninth to join a Premier League club.
