DAN BURN has vowed to push Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy for a place in the centre of Albion’s defence once he returns from Wigan.
The Seagulls completed the capture yesterday of the 6ft 7in giant for around £3 million.
They immediately loaned him back to Wigan until January to recover from a broken foot bone and play games in the Championship before challenging Dunk, Duffy and fellow newcomer Leon Balogun.
Burn, 26, said: “I wouldn’t have come here if I wasn’t up to the challenge of breaking into the first team. I want to push the lads to do even better than they are doing.
“I’ve played against them and they’re good defenders which I think will drive me on. It’s a challenge that I’m up for and whenever I’m called upon I’ll be ready.”
Burn has signed a contract until 2022.
