Boss Chris Hughton says Albion are under extra pressure to perform in the Premier League this season after spending around £60 million on improving the squad.

They have signed ten players, although only eight will be available until January when injured Dan Burn comes back from his loan return to Wigan.

South African Percy Tau, meanwhile, is heading out on loan for the season to navigate work permit restrictions.

Hughton said: "I think there becomes more pressure because you have improved the squad. We've got a support that saw us fare quite well last season. I think it’s normal, it comes with the territory and I think probably it will be the same at the other two clubs who got promoted last season.

"We have to accept that and certainly not shy away from it. And that's not just me and the club – that's the players too. Expectations of our players will become greater too and they have to rise to the challenge."
