Albion have been drawn at home to Southampton in the second round of the Carabao Cup in the week commencing August 27.

The Seagulls will now face Saints twice in quick succession, as they also visit them in the Premier League on September 17.

Both meetings ended in 1-1 draws last season, Glenn Murray scoring for Albion at the Amex with a header and at St Mary's from the penalty spot.

Mark Hughes has replaced Mauricio Pellegrino as Southampton manager since then.

Extra-time has been abandoned in this season's competition, so the tie will go straight to penalties if the scores are level after 90 minutes.

The match falls for Albion between a trip to Liverpool and home game against Fulham.

The games either side for Southampton are at home to Leicester and away to Crystal Palace.
