Albion boss Chris Hughton says it will feel like signing a new player when Jose Izquierdo is back in contention.

The left-winger has not featured so far this season after returning from the World Cup with Colombia with a knee injury.

Izquierdo made an impact in the Premier League last season with five goals in 32 appearances after a £13.5 million move from Brugge.

He is back in training and could soon be challenging Solly March for a place in the starting line-up.

Hughton said: "I thought he was very good for us last year and also what he gives us is a goal threat.

"But I've been delighted with Solly. He's had a good pre-season and if I'm looking on the balances of play, Jose played once he got integrated into the team and knew the way he wanted to play, he became a regular in the side.

"That's the competition on the left-hand side.

"With Jose out, it's allowed Solly to play the amount of games he's had and it's great to have that competition but what he gives us is goals as well."

Albion will still be without influential No.10 Pascal Gross for Tottenham's visit on Saturday (5.30pm).

Romanian striker Florin Andone is continuing his recovery from groin and thigh problems in training and could be a contender for the bench.
