Boss Chris Hughton says Albion made too many mistakes to push Everton.
But he expects the impressive hosts to push for a top six finish.
Brazilian Richarlison scored the first of his two goals in a break from an Albion corner and intercepted a Lewis Dunk pass for the other in the Seagulls' 3-1 defeat.
Seamus Coleman struck in-between from outside the box after Dunk levelled as Albion conceded three or more goals away from home in the Premier League for only the fourth time.
Hughton said: "We were up against a very good team today. We got ourselves back in the game at 1-1.
"We needed to come out in the second half better than we did but we were up against a very good team who I think will push the top six.
"We probably made too many errors to come away with something."
"When you come here you have to keep the ball better and not make mistakes. We would look at all three goals as poor goals."
