Solly March has been saluted as Albion's Wembley saviour.

The Seagulls looked down and out when trailing underdogs Millwall 2-0 in their FA Cup quarter-final at the Den.

Manager Chris Hughton made changes on the wings in the second half, including bringing on March and later taking off Anthony Knockaert.

March set up fellow sub Jurgen Locadia to pull a goal back in the 88th minute, then levelled from a free-kick in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Albion won 5-4 on penalties after-extra-time to set up their first semi-final since 1983 at Wembley against hot favourites Manchester City on April 6.

Hughton said: "I thought Solly was excellent when he came on. We knew we needed a bit of width.

"Anthony had a lot of the ball and was a big threat but probably just didn't have that quality at times that we needed. That can happen.

"It was a good time to bring wide players on, because you knew you were going to have a lot of the ball."

Hughton admitted March did not mean to score from the last-gasp free-kick, which Millwall keeper David Martin somehow let in.

The Argus: "I don't think so," Hughton said. "My reaction at the time was he's overhit it."

Watford and Wolves face each other in the other semi-final on April 7.

Hughton said: "I don't think I would be speaking out of turn that ourselves, Wolves and Watford wanted to avoid Man City, but that's before.

"Now the draw has been made we are so excited about a game in which we will obviously be big underdogs, but what a challenge."
