Graham Potter wants Albion to be on top form against Crystal Palace – on and off the pitch.

The Seagulls' head coach expects home fans to be right behind his side against the old enemy.

Potter said: “In an ideal world it would be nice to have them with us, regardless.

“I also understand football is an emotional experience and people get disappointed and frustrated.

“It is up to us to try and make that not happen.

“I would like to think our supporters are fair-minded.

“They know the position we are in, they know the fight we have got and it doesn’t make sense to work against ourselves.

“We need the supporters and the supporters need the team. We hope that is the case.

“They have been brilliant with us so far, no complaints.

“We want a nice 12.30 kick-off, a nice Amex experience, a nice atmosphere, a good one but a positive one for the home team and we will do our best.”

Jason Steele could feature in goal for Albion under-23s as they visit Derby County today (12pm).
