Dick Knight has underlined the "urgent need" for a new stadium after Albion reported pre-tax losses of £2.8 million for the year ending June 2007.
Knight said the losses were predictable given the club were relegated to League One and spent more than £500,000 on the Falmer stadium project.
The Albion chairman added: "Judicious house-keeping of our budgets meant operating losses increased by only £461,000 on the previous year.
"The losses have been contained by additional shareholder funding and the board continues to press forward with stadium plans.
"The results spell out the urgent need for the new stadium with all the economic benefits it will bring."
