Lewes boss Kevin Keehan felt his side missed Sam Gargan as they went down 2-0 at home to Stevenage.
Gargan failed to reappear for the second half due to an ankle problem and the initiative was handed to the visitors.
Keehan said: “We missed Sam. He did particularly well in the first half when he held the ball up well.
“He has done his ankle again. I am not sure how long he will be out for and that creates a problem for us.”
Gargan is almost certainly out of Tuesday’s trip to Salisbury.
Keehan was not too despondent about the defeat.
He added: “I thought in the first half we were the better team, we had a couple of chances and didn’t take them.
“In the second half we were defending reasonably well but just weren’t picking up any balls coming out of the box. We conceded too much of the play to them.
“They put us under pressure but until the penalty came I didn’t think they caused us too many problems.”
