Anthony Barness was ruled out for Lewes away to Team Bath in the FA Trophy today.

The experienced defender was missing through by illness which meant Chris Breach dropped back to right-back.

Tim Rivers came into a five-man midfield with fellow youth team player David Wheeler returning on the right.

Rivers' only previous start came in a Sussex Senior Cup tie at Selsey.

Michael Standing moved to the left-hand side of midfield with Chamal Fenelon up front again in the continued absence of on-loan Albion striker Sam Gargan with an ankle injury.

A third member of the under-18s side that played so well against Hull City in the FA Youth Cup on Monday was on the bench. Fred Foreman was one of just four substitutes due to Barness' late withdrawal.

The match was given the go-ahead after a 10am inspection. While it was particularly wet in one part, the sloping pitch looked quite playable.
