Crawley have completed their third transfer of the week by making Mikey Malcolm’s move permanent.

Malcolm joined on loan from Weymouth in November and has scored four goals in nine league and cup appearances.

The 23-year-old has signed a contract until the end of next season and joins midfielder Lewis Chalmers and striker Jon Shaw, who both joined Reds earlier this week.

Assistant manager Paul Raynor said: “Mikey took a while to settle in but since then he has been outstanding for us.

“We like his versatility. He can play on either wing, behind the front two or up top.

“That’s three great bits of business this week with Chalmers and Shaw also joining us.”

Crawley’s FA Trophy fourth round tie against Cambridge today has been postponed because of a frozen pitch.

It will now take place next Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm and Reds' boss Steve Evans, who will have family members supporting Cambridge in the home end, knows his side will have to earn their progress to the last 16.

The sides drew 2-2 in the league in November but Cambridge have struggled for consistency in recent weeks and the departure of former Crawley striker Scott Rendell, who has returned to Peterborough following a successful loan spell, means they are down to 15 first-team players today.

Evans said: “Cambridge have struggled of late to produce top performances but it will still be a difficult match and one we are looking forward to.

“Both teams like to play good football so at least everything will not just be kicked in the air to fight for set pieces as some teams do in the Blue Square premier.

“Cambridge are a Football League club in all but their current status but we will get on with our game and try and impose ourselves.”
