Santos Gaia was thrown straight into the Crawley side for today's crucial Conference clash against play-off rivals Cambridge at the Abbey Stadium.

The 30-year-old Brazilian central defender replaced the suspended Adam Quinn in one of two changes to the side which beat Lewes 5-1 on Tuesday.

Glenn Wilson returned at rightback with Danny Forrest pushing forward into midfield following the end of Lewis Chalmers' loan spell from Aldershot.

Reds' other new signing Gavin Hurren was on the bench alongside fit-again Thomas Pinault.

Cambridge have won four successive away games but made one change to the team which defeated Grays 1-0 on Tuesday with Daryl McMahon replacing Jon Challinor on the left-hand side of midfield.

The U's attack was led by former Crawley striker Scott Rendell, who has scored ten goals since joining on loan from Peterborough.

Cambridge: Potter, Gleeson, Tonkin, Bolland, Hatswell, Reason, Carden, McMahon, Beesley, Rendell, Holroyd. Subs: Challinor, Pitt, Coulson, Willmott, Crow.
