Santos Gaia is relishing one of the biggest weeks of Crawley’s season as they chase success on two fronts.

The 30-year-old Brazilian defender faces Wrexham at the Broadfield Stadium tonight knowing that victory will lift Reds above Dean Saunders’ side and to within three points of the play-offs.

Crawley then entertain Ebbsfleet for a place in the Setanta Shield area final on Thursday before Gaia’s old club Weymouth visit the Broadfield on Sunday.

Gaia had an outstanding debut in Saturday’s hard-earned 1-1 draw at Cambridge and declared: “We can definitely reach the play-offs.

“The reason I came here is because Crawley were in a good position and have a strong squad and I want to help us finish in the top five.

“Wrexham are a big club but so were Cambridge and we deserved our draw there. The feeling among the squad is definitely that we can get into the play-offs and we are looking forward to every game.”

Gaia will line up alongside Jake Wright as Adam Quinn completes his two-match suspension but boss Steve Evans may have to make changes.

Evans said: “I have a number of injury concerns but I will keep those to myself. Dean Saunders needs no help from me as to what team or system he plays.”

A boost for Reds is the absence in Wrexham’s line-up of 17-goal joint-top scorer Marc Williams who broke his foot in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Salisbury.
