Joe Keehan headed an equaliser three minutes from time as Lewes ended the season with a 1-1 draw at home to York City.

Top scorer Keehan grabbed his ninth goal of the campaign as the Rooks made it seven points from a possible 12 in their last four home games.

With Josh Jirbandey unavailable at the request of Peterborough, Lewes handed a home debut to youth team skipper Ryan Timms.

David Wheeler, who played for English Schools under-18s on Friday, was on the bench but Stefan Cox missed out through injury.

The match had nothing on it after York secured their survival at Weymouth on Friday.

It took either side 45 minutes to get a shot on target in a match which looked like an end of season stroll for both sides.

Joe Keehan blazed high and wide on 12 minutes after working an opening for himself and Steven Hogg drilled a free-kick wide midway through the half for York but it was stoppage time before either goalkeeper was tested.

Luke Rooney threatened to break the deadlock for Lewes, sending an effort from the edge of the box into the midriff of York goalkeeper Josh Mimms.

Within seconds York responded with Onome Sodje forcing a decent save from Rikki Banks at the expense of a corner.

Lewes made a double change at half-time, throwning on Wheeler and Fred Foreman for Michael Standing and Ryan Storrie.

The Rooks made a positive start with Keehan firing over the bar after an Andy Wilkinson cross was only half cleared.

Rooney had another crack at goal on 63 minutes, forcing Mimms to save his 25yard effort low down.

However, the game was still struggling to excite a bumper crowd of 802 at the Dripping Pan.

It came to life with two goals in the last ten minutes.

York went ahead with ten minutes remaining when substitute Richard Broadie's header following a free-kick was saved by Rikki Banks but Mark Greaves forced the ball home from close range.

The Rooks levelled with three minutes remaining when Luke Rooney's free-kick was nodded across goal, Sam Fisk headed goalwards and Keehan headed the ball home on the line.
