Eastbourne Eagles' play-off hopes are virtually over after a 46-44 home defeat to rivals Peterborough tonight.
A makeshift home side led 17-13 at one stage but were six points down going into heat 14.
Stand-in skipper Cameron Woodward won that race but Ricky Kling fell while looking to turn a 4-2 into a 5-1.
Lewis Bridger and Woodward combined for a 5-1 in heat 15 but it was too late to head off a fifth successive defeat.
Woodward's return to form with paid-15 was the saving grace of the evening.
However guests Adam Skornicki and Nicolai Klindt combined for just seven points in place of Davey Watt and Lukas Dryml and that proved vital.
Eagles: Woodward 13+2 (6), Bridger 11 (5), Kling 7 (5), Gustafsson 6 (5), Klindt 5+2 (5), Skornicki 2+1 (4), Norris r/r.
Peterborough: Iversen 12+1 (6), Vissing 10+3 (6), Korneliusson 10 (6), Ostergaard 6+1 (5), Hansen 5 (4), Bager 3 (3), Bjerre r/r.
