Bob Dugard wants a quick decision from his No. 1 target.
The Eastbourne promoter has lined up Polish star Grzegorz Walasek to replace injured David Norris for the rest of the season.
Walasek came second in his GP qualifying semi-final in Motala, Sweden on Saturday.
Dugard said: “I think he was waiting to see how he did and that’s why we haven’t heard anything.
“He has had a look at our fixture list and knows what he can do.”
Asked if Eagles could afford the Zielona Gora rider, Dugard said: “We have to.”
Eagles duo Lukas Dryml and Davey Watt scored nine and eight points respectively to qualify from the Motala semi.
They will compete in the final at Coventry on September 18, from which the top three earn places in the GP series next year.
Eagles have had to call off the Elite League Pairs, due to be held at Arlington on Saturday, August 8, and replace it with a re-arranged home fixture against Coventry.
The clash with the Bees will now be Eagles’ 80th anniversary celebration meeting and the EL Pairs could go to another track.
Watt and Dryml return for a tough trip to title-chasing Wolverhampton before the Sky Sports cameras tonight (7.30pm).
