Defender on course for September comeback

Jim McNulty is firmly on course to return from a serious internal injury in the opening weeks of the season.

Albion boss Russell Slade reckons his highly-rated left-back, who had a kidney removed after a freak collision with an opponent in the defeat to Crewe last season, should be available in mid-September.

McNulty has made encouraging progress in pre-season training and Slade said: “He hasn’t been having a problem. He has been doing a bit of light work and has been jogging. They are small and gradual steps really but he is doing okay.

“We are probably looking at him being back in the middle of September but it’s difficult to say exactly when.”

McNulty has yet to play for the Seagulls under Slade.

Albion lost the services of on-loan left-back Gary Borrowdale at the end of last season and have released Kerry Mayo.

However, they still have versatile Joel Lynch at their disposal. Lynch, primarily a centre-back, was a regular on the left of defence in the Championship while on loan at Nottingham Forest last season and is now back with the Seagulls.

David Livermore, Andrew Whing and Adam El-Abd have also played at left-back.

Great news about McNulty.
Not even a hint there that Lynch will be going to Forest on a permanent deal?
Interesting

by all accounts forest have dropped all contact, no other club have shown interest, so joel has to get professional and get in the first team, or where does he go? great news about mc nulty.

Good News about Jim McNulty, he will be encouraged back to fitness knowing that he will be rejoining two of his old Stockport team mates. Lets hope they make a formidable 'spine' in the team.

Lallana would be great young signing...not sure if he would be looking to stay in League 1 though

If we could get him for a derisory figure, it would be worth bringing him in as an investment.

i never said the albion were interested, just its funny how players and clubs value themselves, he looks likely to go to wolves, a good move for him, but mcarthy has offered 500k for him, thats a "loss" of 2.5 million, sort of puts the 55k we tossed out the window into some perspective! does anybody know if harding and that other t--t from ipswich have found clubs? rs gets dozens of players cv every day.. from here and abroad.. credit crunch at the lower end of football?
