Wright has no regrets

Mark Wright has no regrets about his move to Albion from MK Dons, despite missing out on a reunion with Paul Ince.

Wright was a regular in the Dons’ side promoted from League Two two seasons ago after Ince signed him from Walsall.

The flying winger, pictured right, joined the Seagulls on a Bosman free transfer shortly before Roberto Di Matteo switched to West Brom, having guided MK to the League One play-offs last season.

That has paved the way for Ince to take charge again at his old club after an unsuccessful spell in the Premier League with Blackburn.

Wright said: “I am sure he will do well back at MK, but I’ve got no regrets at all about making the move I have. It was time to move on. I’m a Brighton player now and I just hope we can push up the League.

“A lot of people think MK have got bags of money, but I don’t think they have got so much this season. It should be interesting and I hope we finish above them.

“It’s going to be a very hard league. There are some great teams, some big teams.”

Ince was an early frontrunner for the Albion managerial vacancy a few months ago. He made contact with the club through a third party, only to change his mind and pull out of a meeting with ex-chairman Dick Knight prior to Russell Slade’s appointment.

Wright is not surprised by Ince’s return to MK. “As soon as I heard Di Matteo had gone I thought there was a chance of him going back,” he said.“He was loved at the club and the chairman loved him.

“He was the one who signed me and he is a really good manager, really good to work for. He didn’t do well at Blackburn, but I don’t think he was given a chance there.”

Wright and Ince will come face-to-face in Albion’s tenth league game of the campaign at Withdean in early October.

A rare comment from me!! But am I wrong to be glad Ince didn't get the job? Not sure he'd have done for us what RS managed to do during that end of season run in. Very valid point that Wrighty makes about it being a tough league, hope the moaners don't get on Slades back if we don't make it into the top six this season!!! I'd settle for a season of consolidation then a push for promotion when we've got a ground worthy of the higher divisions.

Well said Mark, this shows he is just the type of player we seem to be attracting to the club now , imported not home grown

He's obviously got a higher level of fitness than we're used to. I wonder how long it will take for White and Booker to knock that out of him?

Indeed Claude, your presence is always most welcome. Though it's a sad indictment that the fact that you can write and spell correctly is a plus point. Scarily you seem also to understand grammar. That sort of behaviour will not be taken to kindly by some of the posters on this site. Nice to see a collection of posts that I can understand for once.
