Albion are close to making towering Derby County striker Liam Dickinson their sixth signing of the summer, according to the player's agent.
Dickinson's representative, Phil Sproson, said: "There is a strong interest from Brighton in Liam and talks are ongoing.
"The two clubs are trying to agree a fee and I don't think they are too far apart.
"Liam wants to be playing regular first team football and he knows his chances at Derby will be limited, so he is hoping a deal can be agreed with Brighton."
The 6ft 4ins Dickinson has yet to make his debut for Derby following a £750,000 move from Stockport a year ago.
He would be the third ex-Stockport player to join Albion following the close-season captures of James Tunicliffe and Gary Dicker.

At this rate it will be Brighton & Hove County and Port Vale Albion! Still, good to see RS is looking at potential quality. Roll on the new season! PS any news of Joel Lynch’s state of mind now he’s back?

A splendid acquisition; massive. To be able to convice a player of this calibre to join our rebuilding project, shows how far we have come. New Stadium and training facility under construction, new shop and proper e-ticketing site, i even like the new away kit. What a time to be an Albion fan... but absolutely earned and deserved.

More good news, let's hope he signs. Dan Harding on a weeks trial at Yeovil, surely he could do a good job at left back for us. He did ok at Ipswich and on loan at Reading.
