Albion close to Dickinson deal

Albion are close to making towering Derby County striker Liam Dickinson their sixth signing of the summer, according to the player's agent.

Dickinson's representative, Phil Sproson, said: "There is a strong interest from Brighton in Liam and talks are ongoing.

"The two clubs are trying to agree a fee and I don't think they are too far apart.

"Liam wants to be playing regular first team football and he knows his chances at Derby will be limited, so he is hoping a deal can be agreed with Brighton."

The 6ft 4ins Dickinson has yet to make his debut for Derby following a £750,000 move from Stockport a year ago.

He would be the third ex-Stockport player to join Albion following the close-season captures of James Tunicliffe and Gary Dicker.

At this rate it will be Brighton & Hove County and Port Vale Albion!
Still, good to see RS is looking at potential quality. Roll on the new season! PS any news of Joel Lynch’s state of mind now he’s back?

Simon - you need to pay more attention to the news. Micky Adams, Tommy Fraser and Doug Loft are the clue.I think port vale should be re-named Brighton reserves. A few others will definitely end up there. (apart from Jonny Dixon of course)

A splendid acquisition; massive. To be able to convice a player of this calibre to join our rebuilding project, shows how far we have come. New Stadium and training facility under construction, new shop and proper e-ticketing site, i even like the new away kit. What a time to be an Albion fan... but absolutely earned and deserved.

Steady on Alan. I agree things are looking good, but we haven't actually signed him yet according to this article. If we do though, and Murray doesn't leave this summer, who will be starting up front if everyone's fit?

More good news, let's hope he signs. Dan Harding on a weeks trial at Yeovil, surely he could do a good job at left back for us. He did ok at Ipswich and on loan at Reading.

Keep your fingers crossed - This lad is class and we will be extremely lucky if he signs.

Look at his player profile on Derby's website, his goals to game ratio at Stockport was excellent!!!

A major coup on the cards here!!!

Hope the story is credible. However it does somewhat smack of an agent trying to get other (bigger) clubs interested in his client.

If we do get him then you'd have to fancy us next season to be right up there, his goals ratio has always been good and he works his socks off, so will be a great replacement for Murray, and with our new look midfield to supply the front two, things are really shaping up, great work RS, not long til..........
