CRAWLEY’S injury crisis shows no sign of easing ahead of tonight’s home game against Histon.

But there is competition for one place and the battle for the goalkeeper’s jersey is giving boss Steve Evans a welcome selection headache.

Simon Rayner’s ever present record since he joined the club at the start of last season ended when he was dropped following last month’s 4-1 home defeat to Gateshead.

Former Portsmouth youngster Nick Jordan, who joined the club at the start of the season, kept goal for the next two games but Rayner returned on Saturday when Reds lost 2-0 at York, their third defeat in the last four games.

Assistant manager Paul Raynor said: “We decided to put Simon in after Nick had an iffy game at Luton.

“Simon did nothing wrong at York. He did his job, looked competent and had no chance with the goals. It was the right decision to bring him back in and take Nick out of the firing line.”

Reds will definitely be without Glenn Wilson, Chris Giles and Ben Smith while Karl Broadhurst (virus) and Charles Ademeno (heel) only have a slim chance of being fit, according to Rayner. Midfielder Thomas Pinault may be fit enough to start after coming off the bench at half-time against York.
