Gus Poyet will have to go with what he has for the rest of 2009.
The loan transfer deadline passed yesterday without any further additions to the Seagulls’ squad.
Poyet hinted at the possibility of doing some business before the 5pm cut-off but no deals materialsed.
He inherited loan signings Gavin Hoyte from Arsenal and Nottingham Forest duo Arron Davies and Matt Thornhill.
Poyet now has tomorrow’s FA Cup tie against Rushden and Diamonds, plus league games against Charlton, Exeter, Colchester, Swindon, Leyton Orient and Wycombe Wanderers, before an opportunity to make changes to the squad during the January transfer window.
The Uruguayan has revealed his admiration for Andy Monkhouse but denied plotting a swoop for the Hartlepool left-winger during the January window.
Poyet has been linked with a New Year move for Monkhouse, who played for Swindon when he was Dennis Wise’s assistant.
“I know ‘Monky’ very well,” Poyet said. “I would like to have him. I like him a lot but this is the first I’ve heard about it.”
Glenn Murray, banned for Rushden’s visit, has been shortlisted for the League One PFA Fans’ player of the month award for November.
The rejuvenated striker scored twice in successive games against Wycombe in the FA Cup and Southampton.
