Seb Carole has backed Albion boss Gus Poyet to bring the best out of him again and urged fans to forget his disappointing second stint with the Seagulls last season.

Carole, as revealed in The Argus on Saturday, has rejoined Albion for the third time on a week-to-week deal.

The 27-year-old French winger believes linking up with Poyet once more will help him recapture the form he showed in his first spell at the club in the Championship.

Carole, pictured, said: “He knew what to tell me in a certain way to get the best out of me. That is what he was good at when he was at Leeds.

“He was only the assistant manager to Dennis Wise but, more than anyone else, he was talking to the players in the right way and players were listening to him.

“He brings you confidence and you trust him and he will bring a togetherness to Brighton, which is important to get the team back on track.

“He is exactly the same as when he was at Leeds. He is really relaxed and wants to play a certain system. Obviously that will take time. I think what he is trying to put in place here will bring the club back to where it deserves to be.”

Carole was a regular in the Albion side relegated from the Championship in 2005-06 but failed to make an impact on his return to the club a year ago.

He said: “My first year here was decent. I played 42 games. I wish I could have scored more goals and maybe then we would not have been relegated but I won a move to Leeds, which is a massive club, so it was a good spell.

“I’ve heard a few things about me not doing well in my second spell last year. Micky Adams signed me and I think I did well under him, then he left and Russell Slade came and I wasn’t really in his plans.

“I wasn’t really involved in the team. I was on the bench most of the time and I didn’t understand why, because I thought I could bring something to the club.

“I was a little bit upset about the whole situation. I didn’t get the chance to do well in that second spell. People shouldn’t worry about that at all. I am still the same Seb that I was the first time.”

Carole has no complaints about the short-term nature of the arrangement after a brief spell at Tranmere and training with Albion for the last couple of weeks He added: “It’s good to be back, even if it is a really short-term contract. If I can help in any way then I will be more than happy.

“I understand the situation from the club’s point of view. I haven’t been playing much regular football for a few months.

“The manager knows me very well from Leeds but the chairman has changed since last season so I understand they could be a bit worried about me.

“For me it is like a trial, to show them what I can do and what I can bring to the club. I think as soon as they are less worried about me they will give me what I deserve!”
