Crawley fought back from falling behind after just 48 seconds to beat AFC Wimbledon 2-1 at Broadfield Stadium.
Danny Kedwell put the visitors ahead early on as he latched on to a long ball to lob Simon Rayner.
Reds responded well though and were level in the 18th minute when debutant Matt Langston nodded down a long ball from Sam Rents for Danny Forrest to hook home from close range.
Charlie Ademeno bagged what turned out to be the winner seven minutes into the second half with a fine piece of skill. The striker spun his marker on the edge of the area and drilled a low shot inside James Pullen's near post.
Reds looked like going on to win comfortably but were unable to add to their lead and had to survive a nervous last five minutes as Wimbledon put them under pressure.
The only cloud for Crawley was Ademeno limping off with 20 minutes to go with a tight hamstring.
