Diego's absence a problem says Poyet

Diego Arismendi will have to wait until next Tuesday’s home game with Brentford at the earliest for his Albion debut.

The Uruguayan has been ruled out again against Swindon tomorrow.

Arismendi was sidelined from Monday’s 0-0 draw at Colchester by a thigh injury sustained in training. It is still troubling the £2.6 million rated midfielder on loan from Stoke and will keep him out of action for an unspecified period.

Manager Gus Poyet said: “We don’t know exactly when he is going to be back training with us now. We will see if we can have him for Tuesday.

“It’s a problem for us because it is a position in the middle of the park that we were looking to cover. We don’t have too many central midfielders. Yes we have got options, people who could play there, but I prefer to have one who is used to playing there.

“The worst part is for Diego himself. He was coming here because he wants to play football. He has adapted very quickly. He is finding the place great for him and now he is with the physio, which is not a nice place for a player to be. I think it is a little more frustrating for Diego himself.”
