First goal killed us, admits Borough boss

Boss Garry Wilson felt conceding a goal just before half-time proved decisive as Eastbourne Borough went down 2-0 at AFC Wimbledon.

Wimbledon had dominated the first half but a couple of good saves from Danny Knowles looked likely to get Borough in on level terms at the interval.

Glen Poole struck in the 42nd minute to give Dons the lead and although Borough improved after the break they conceded a second to Danny Kedwell with five minutes to go.

Wilson said: "We had a defensive system and wanted to keep it tight so it was disappointing to lose a goal just before half-time.

"We pushed an extra man up front in the second half and had two or three chances and if one of them had gone in then it might have been different.

"Unfortunately they didn't and they scored with a fantastic header near the end. It is disappointing but Wimbledon are a good team and fortunately results elsewhere have gone our way."
