Poyet fears too many loans

ALBION boss Gus Poyet is concerned about having too many players on loan as the hunt continues for goalkeeping cover for Peter Brezovan.

The Seagulls have already borrowed Marcos Painter, Gavin Hoyte, Kazenga LuaLua and Diego Arismendi – one short of the maximum number of loans allowed in a matchday squad.

Poyet said: "It's a difficult situation, because we have already got four on loan. If I bring one more that will make the five available.

"I don't want to bring two and have the problem of leaving one out of the squad. If you have an injury it's different but we don't. We need to make a decision and let's see what happens in the next couple of games."

Poyet has confirmed the continuing absence of Arismendi for tomorrow night's home game against Brentford.

Stoke's Uruguayan midfielder had ice pack treatment on his injured right thigh after training today. Poyet said: "He wants to play tomorrow by the medics say it is too early, too risky."

Adam Virgo is available after completing a four-match suspension for his second red card of the season at Leeds.

Poyet said: "He has been spot-on in training, very good. He didn't take a day off in the last week. He decided to come and train with the under 18's. From the other players' point of view, they say he hasn't run enough!"

Are we allowed to send Hoyte back to Arsenal? Failing that, don't pick him in the squad.

Agreed! McNulty looks a better player than Hoyte anyway.

There's a need for balance in the squad. From our players we have, with us sending so many out on loan ourselves, gaps at GK, LB, RB, CM, LM so bringing in a Gk is a good idea to make sure we have cover.

I'd rather have to chose a loan player who misses out than pick a youth team player who isn't ready.

But Walker is a decent young keeper and I wouldn't be worried about playing him, my only concern would be if Brezovan got injured and we had no-one else to sit on the bench
