Skipper backs Murray to end Withdean goal drought

Albion captain Andrew Crofts has backed Glenn Murray to end his Withdean goal drought.

Murray has gone 12 months and 13 appearances without a home goal, a sequence the striker will be hoping to end against Brentford tonight.

Crofts said: “Muzza’s a good lad. He’s scored a lot of goals away from home (12) and he has been unlucky not to score a few at home as well.

“It’s coming. He has been unfortunate in front of goal, getting it cleared off the line and hitting the post, things like that.

“As long as he is there to miss them that is the main thing. If we keep giving him the service I am sure one will drop in for him soon.”

Brentford’s visit launches another key period for the Seagulls against sides close to them in the bottom half of the table.

They head for Oldham on Saturday, followed a week later by another home game against Tranmere.

Crofts said: “The next three games could do us a big favour. They are all around us, so if we can take points off them and keep climbing up it will be massive for us.”
