Lewes have released two players in a bid to free up funds but injuries are hampering their fight to avoid relegation.

Manager Steve Ibbitson is hoping to bring in a loan signing ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Bishop’s Stortford.

Scott Chamberlain and Ryan Timms have left the club to allow Ibbitson flexibility in his budget to make further signings.

However, it is fitness problems which are his immediate concern with eight players doubtful for tomorrow’s game.

Ross Sutton should be available after being ruled out of Tuesday’s Senior Cup tie with a migraine while the Rooks are hopeful Anthony Barness (thigh), Chris Breach (thigh), Joe Keehan (calf) and Jamie Crellin (back) will also be fit.

But new loan signing Grant Hall, pictured, has been ruled out for up to three weeks with a torn thigh muscle suffered in training with Albion on Monday, fellow defender Lewis Hamilton is ruled out by a heel injury and midfielder Jack Walder is rated only 50-50 due to a groin problem.

Tim Rivers should return to the squad and Scott Manning, one of a number of youngsters who featured against Hastings, could be involved again.

Chamberlain and Timms have both left after failing to hold down a regular first-team spot. Former Albion midfielder Chamberlain has joined Eastbourne Town while ex-youth team skipper Timms, who captained the side as a farewell gesture at Hastings, has linked up with Horsham YMCA.

Ibbitson said: “It gives me a little budget to play with if we can get anybody else in.”
