Borough to go on the offensive

Boss Garry Wilson says Eastbourne Borough will go for the jugular against Grays Athletic tomorrow.

Borough have scored just three goals in their last eight games prompting criticism from some fans for what they perceive to be negative tactics.

Only Grays have scored fewer goals than Borough in the league this season and Wilson admits he will throw caution to the wind tomorrow in the first of five season-defining games in the space of 16 days.

He said: “We have got to be more positive because it is a game we would like to win. We will have to take a few gambles.

“If we can beat Grays then they are almost too far adrift at the bottom so it counts them out and it would give us confidence going into the other big games we have coming up.

“It is by no means make-or-break though. We could drop points tomorrow and then win the next three or four and still be okay.”

Wilson has favoured using a 4-5-1 formation in recent months with Liam Enver-Marum as the lone striker.

Enver-Marum has scored ten of Borough’s 29 league goals this season but is still struggling with an ankle injury which ruled him out of the 2-0 defeat at AFC Wimbledon last Saturday.

Wilson added: “Liam has been having treatment all week and the injury is definitely getting better but we don’t know whether he is going to be fit enough to play.

“We’ll assess how he is today and obviously that will be a factor in how we decide to line up and who plays where.”
