Carole gets the call

Albion have opted against a change in shape as they go to Oldham today - and that is great news for Seb Carole.

The French wideman comes in as a like-for-like replacement for on-loan winger Kazenga LuaLua as the Seagulls retain their 4-5-1, or 4-3-3, formation for the trip to rainswept Boundary Park.

LuaLua has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.

Chris Holroyd is also absent today with a hamstring problem though he could be back next Saturday.

Albion had hoped Diego Arismedi could be fit for this one but he is not in the 18.

Dean Cox returns to the bench after a midweek hat-trick for the reserves.

Oldham come into the game fresh from a 1-0 win at nearby Stockport in midweek.

They needed a fortunate penalty award against ex-Albion defender Adam Hinshelwood to snatch a draw with Wycombe here last Saturday.

Albion's last three visits here have also finished all-square, all with 1-1 scorelines after Oldham scored first.

Pleased to see Cox on the bench but why is Poyet still wasting his time with that uselss Frenchman Carole?

I'd rather have Carole than Cox any day of the week, it's tiresome watching Cox pick out the first defender week after week.

Carole has some skill and I believe Poyet will get the best out of him!

I have more skill in my toenail than that plonker Carole.

Cox may not be the answer but Carole certainly isn't!

Why Poyet has frozen out Whing and Cox in favour of Hoyte and Carole is a mystery to me. I don't think I have seen two worse players in an Albion shirt than Hoyte and Carole.

I am so happy that some of the whingers that post here do not have a say in managing the Albion. Gus so obviously knows what he is doing - Oldham 0 - 2 Albion... an own goal scored trying to cut out a Carole cross... says it all..
The moaners need to take a long hard look at themselves. If you had people on your back every week (i.e. the whinging minority at Withdean), it would totally knock your confidence. Carole might not be a world beater, but he obviously has something otherwise Gus the manager would not pick him. Trust Gus and get behind the team or clear off for heaven's sake.

Exactly. One of the reasons the team perform better away. No Withdean Whingers at away grounds. Well done GP and the lads. Well done away support. Yet again.

Carole played well - bet that makes a few here feel sick :)

In his first spell with us Carole was excellent. His second started well but faded a bit (although his chances were very limited). He has had very few chances this time, but by all accounts did really well today. He does have real skill and quality, and is a great addition to the squad, especially on the current week to week deal. Noone loses out. And if he plays well to the season end, I'd be very happy to have him on board for next season. Well played Seb! Maybe a few never forgave him for 'walking out' on us for Leeds a few years back?
