Garry Wilson has labelled the return of Danny Brown as like “signing a new player” after failing to strengthen his squad on loan deadline day.

Borough had hoped to bring in Shane Huke yesterday after he impressed for the reserves on Wednesday night but the 24-year-old former Peterborough midfielder turned them down.

That disappointment was offset by Brown successfully coming through 90 minutes in the 7-3 defeat by Leyton Orient after being sidelined for two months with a knee injury.

Wilson said: “We were willing to make Shane an offer but he decided to look elsewhere. We still have the option to bring in non-contract players but having Danny back is like signing a new player.”

Brown returns to the squad tomorrow while Ben Austin is also fit after picking up a knock last Saturday but Paul Armstrong is ruled out with a dead leg.
