Caskey completes memorable week with cup-final double
Jake Caskey completed a memorable week with a man-of-the-match display as Albion Reserves lifted the Sussex Senior Cup.
The England under-16 midfielder stole the show as the Seagulls cruised to a 4-0 victory over Ryman League Bognor at Priory Lane, Eastbourne.
Just two days after making a surprise appearance on the bench for the first team at MK Dons, Caskey grabbed a brace of goals with a display of finishing which his stepfather, Albion striker Nicky Forster, would have been proud of.
The 16-year-old was back at school this morning but will begin a three-year full-time deal with the Seagulls in July which includes a professional contract when he turns 17.
Albion Reserves boss Charlie Oatway, a midfielder himself, believes Caskey’s career can flourish with Albion.
He said: “I haven’t seen enough of him but what I have seen he has half a chance of being a really good player.
“Like with any good player at that age, he just needs to make sure he keeps his feet on the ground. He seems a very level headed kid so I am sure he will and he has good people around him.
“I’m sure they will keep his feet on the ground and then he will have a really successful career, hopefully with us.
“He has got to learn the other side of the game like tracking runners but he will know his weaknesses and when he does train and play with us in the reserves he will learn more from us and what we want as a first team squad member.
“He has a lot to work on, he knows that, and I will do my best to help him as much as I can.”
