Gus Poyet believes his Albion side completed pre-season in style as they beat Aberdeen 1-0 today.

Elliott Bennett scored the 37th-minute winner but the Seagulls had plenty of chances to increase the tally.

Boss Poyet said: "I think it was a very good performance.

"It was a game where we were in control all the time.

"We didn't know too much about how Aberdeen would play.

"In the first ten minutes we had to have a look at the opposition.

"The players did that, they read the game and they started playing.

"For long periods in the first half we were controlling the game but not creating clear chances.

"We were always missing the last pass until we started having shots.

"Then the goal came. I think in the second half we had plenty of chances to score another goal.

"When you're 1-0 anything can happen but I was very pleased with the performance."
