Simon Weatherstone kept his nerve to convert a 90th minute penalty and seal a thrilling 4-3 win for Eastbourne Borough at home to Wrexham.

A crowd of 1,055 saw Borough make it back-to-back wins with a terrific display in a thoroughly entertaining contest.

Weatherstone's spot-kick was his second of the game and put Borough ahead for the third time in the match.

This time they held on despite five minutes of stoppage time.

Borough made a bright start and deservedly went ahead in the tenth minute when Richard Pacquette met Matt Crabb's free-kick from a central position with a glancing header for his fourth goal of the season.

Wrexham came back strongly to score twice in ten minutes, both headers from set-pieces. Christian Smith nodded in a Dean Keates free-kick on 15 minutes, then Marvin Andrews returned a deep corner from Keates into the the net from 16 yards.

At that stage Borough looked under the cosh but they regrouped, despite losing Simon Johnson to a nasty-looking injury, and drew level on 43 minutes when Gary Elphick headed home a long throw from Ross Treleaven.

The second half burst into life with three quick chances for Borough prior to Weatherstone putting them back in front on 52 minutes from the penalty spot following a handball.

Borough continued to play well and looked the better side for much of the second half but they were pegged back 14 minutes from time following some slack defending. Twice they failed to clear before Andy Morrell whipped in a cross which Smith lashed home.

However, Garry Wilson's men drove forward again and were rewarded with a second spot-kick after Chris Blackburn handled Crabb's corner.

Weatherstone was made to wait as Wrexham assistant Brian Carey was sent to the stands but the Borough midfielder remained cool to beat Scott Shearer for the winner.
