Eastbourne Borough boss Garry Wilson slammed referee Stephen Ross after his side went down 4-0 at Mansfield.

Wilson was furious Ross awarded Mansfield a penalty in first half injury time following what looked a clean tackle by Steve Cook on Kyle Nix.

Borough were still reeling from falling behind two minutes earlier and Rob Duffy converted the spot kick to leave the visitors with a mountain to climb in the seocnd half.

Substitute Luke Medley scored twice in the closing 15 minutes of the second half to completed a flattering victory for Mansfield which sent them to the top of Blue Square premier.

Wilson said: "It was a massive moment in the game and I couldn't see why he gave it.

"It was a really poor decision and to go in 2-0 down after playing well for 43 minutes was very harsh."

Cook could have given Borough the lead in the 25th minute when he headed wide from close range while Rikki Banks made a fine save from Paul Connor at the other end.

Mansfield took the lead in the 43rd minute when Borough failed to clear a corner and Chris Smith headed home from close range.

There looked no way back after Duffy had made it 2-0 before the break but Borough responded well in the second half and Jamie Taylor came close to pulling a goal back on a number of occasions.

Mansfield wrapped up the win in the 74th minute when Medley converted a cross from Louis Briscoe at the near post and five minutes later Medley was allowed to run 30 yards before firing a low shot past Banks.
