Will Buckley came off the bench to score an added-time winner as Albion beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 at The Amex today.

Buckley calmly slid the ball between keeper Lee Camp and his near post after Craig Mackail-Smith had broken away down the right and crossed low for Romain Vincelot to lay the ball off.

It was the Seagulls' fourth win in the last five games and sparked euphoric celebrations around the new stadium.

But it was also a win they did not really deserve.

Until Buckley struck, there was not too much for a crowd of 20,385 – including 2,402 away fans - to get excited about.

Forest had the better chances although Kazenga LuaLua's 55th minute introduction off the bench gave Albion some short-lived attacking spark.

The first half was a tense, tactical battle as Forest looked to keep things tight after their 4-0 midweek mauling at home to Leeds while Albion adjusted to four changes.

There was only one hint of a goal, when Paul Anderson shot narrowly wide from 25 yards on 14 minutes.

Forest should have gone ahead straight after the break when Marcus Tudgay was left alone to head a great Chris Gunter cross wide from close range.

LuaLua's run and deep cross created a decent chance which Craig Noone headed wide.

But that was a rare home threat and the Seagulls were relieved to see Garath McLeary's shot land on the roof the net after taking a deflection off Lewis Dunk.

Radoslaw Majewski cut inside and lashed a shot wide of the far post and Forest looked marginally the more likely side to grab a goal – until Buckley pounced.
