Crawley have recalled Glenn Wilson early from a loan spell to help solve a defensive crisis.

Claude Davis and David Hunt both miss tomorrow’s clash with Barnet at Broadfield Stadium leaving Reds with just four available defenders.

Davis was sent off in the 2-1 defeat against Gillingham on Boxing Day while Hunt picked up a fifth booking of the season following a high tackle which left Chris Whelpdale requiring five stitches in his testicles.

Wilson was due to remain at Fleetwood Town along with fellow Reds defender Charlie Wassmer until January 14 but Crawley boss Steve Evans has decided to invoke a 24-hour recall clause in the arrangement.

Evans said: “Glenn can play at right-back or centre-back so he gives us options. He is somebody we still think very highly of and has continued to train with us twice a week since he joined Fleetwood.”

Midfielder Ben Smith is also back at Broadfield Stadium following the end of his loan spell with Woking. He will go straight into the squad for the Barnet game with Reds short of numbers but is expected to rejoin the Blue Square Bet south outfit in the New Year.

Meanwhile, Evans has dropped a complaint against Andy Hessenthaler after reporting the Gillingham boss to police for a racist comment after the heated clash at Broadfield Stadium on Boxing Day.
