Crawley boss Steve Evans has revealed the transfer targets he missed out on before the window closed yesterday.
Reds signed Billy Clarke on a free transfer and Karl Hawley on loan but failed in attempts to bring in West Ham duo Frank Nouble and Freddie Sears, Reading's Mathieu Mansett, Nicky Ajose of Peterborough and Hearts pair Ryan Stevenson and Rudi Skacel.
Sears and Nouble both rejected moves to Broadfield Stadium while Reds could not agree a fee for Mansett. Ajose's personal terms ended Crawley's interest in the striker while Stevenson opted to join Ipswich and Skacel remains at Hearts.
Evans has also confirmed that midfielder Ben Smith has joined Aldershot Town on loan while wantaway winger Willie Gibson has left the club by mutual consent.
