Dicker back on the march

In the action: Gary Dicker takes on Hull this season In the action: Gary Dicker takes on Hull this season

Gary Dicker is back at The Amex and targeting a March comeback.

But the sidelined Albion midfielder today admitted he is facing the biggest mental test yet of his four-month recovery from a broken leg.

Dicker resumed running on Monday and is also doing some simple ballwork.

He reports no problems and said: “I feel fine, I feel strong and, although I felt a bit worried running for the first time, I’ve had no pain or reaction.

“There’s not really a schedule on my comeback but I’ve had no setbacks, touch wood.

“I’ll just build up the running and see how that goes. But hopefully I’ll be back playing next month. That’s my aim.”

Dicker has been working at The Amex with the club’s training pitches across the A27 frozen but admitted: “This is the hardest part I’ve had to deal with because you are so close.

“You just want to push yourself a bit more but this is the time you have just got to be a bit careful.

“Before that you feel a million miles away when you are in a cast.

“Once you get back on the grass you just want to play a game.”

Considering we had so many injury problems over the last few months, the team is still within touching distance of the play-offs. All the worriers on here fearing a relegation battle seem to be silenced, and I for one don't miss them. Cannot wait for GD to come back, not sorely missed but will definately strengthen the team.

Great to see him back - we did miss him, particularly before Xmas when we could not find a solid midfielder to complement Bridcutt. Fortunately, Sparrow's resurgence and JFC's cameos have helped cover the gap. However, in their absence, Gus is left with Navs, Harley and Vicente for that central midfield position- none of whom currently seem capable of filling this position on a regular basis.

Apparently the Premier League midfielder we are signing on loan is Razak of Man City.

Will be good to see Gary back.

Yet another midfielder to add to the mix then!! What are we going to do with them all! GD coming back is quality, he can sure pick out a pass at times....good news for CMS!

GD back. With his natural power, searing pace & never being caught in possession, that almost seals the May 2012 promotion to the PL.

Good luck to him but when fit he's going to struggle to even get on the bench.

Disagree that he wasn't sorely missed. Had we had Dicker over the last few months CMS would definitely have scored some goals. The results have flattered us and if it wasn't for Super Will Buckley, more people would be commenting on how much we have missed him. Great to see him nearly back. With Vicente and the new guy we're gonna suddenly be somewhat blessed creativity wise in the midfield.

Seems like all the injury and suspension worries are rapidly dissapearing and we will have a strong squad and plenty of competition for places, looking good.

Great news about GD but Gus needs to play either Vicente or Harley in midfield to unlock defences in final third where it matters. Harley and Vicente are the class we need.

Harley? Ryan Harley? Maybe, but I for one am yet to be convinced by him.

Certainly wouldn't put him in the same bracket as Vicente.

Harley is pure class. Swansea bought him for a reason. He just needs time to settle. He's got pace and vision. He's certainly more of a future for us than Vicente. Given the latter's age and injury problems.

At last someone who knows class when he sees it...absolutely agree Harley is more long term than Vicente. People think he's lazy, no heart etc but look at Jan Molby, Zidan, Hoddle, Platinni, Berbetov...

Harley and pace in the same sentence. brilliant stuff. He does have vision. He is a good player. He needs to work harder off the ball however to succeed in the Championship

GD is a very good League One midfielder. Harley may come good like Sparrow, but needs bottle in tackle situations (I don't know if he was a victim of a bad foul in his past?) Gus will get th best out of him & then we'll find out.
