Vokes in as Albion make changes

Sam Vokes has been handed a first Albion start – against one of his former clubs.

The on-loan striker starts in attack at Leeds today as the Seagulls make four changes from the side which beat Leicester a week ago.

Vokes, who had a brief loan stint at Elland Road in 2009, comes in for Craig Mackail-Smith while Kazenga LuaLua gets the nod for the banned Matt Sparrow.

There is another enforced change in defence, where the unwell Lewis Dunk is replaced by Joe Mattock.

Left-back Mattock gets his first start on loan from West Brom and Adam El-Abd reverts to his preferred centre-back role.

The other change of personnel is at right-back, where Gonzalo Jara Reyes is in for Inigo Calderon.

Craig Noone is among the subs after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Leeds caretaker boss Neil Redfearn takes charge at Elland Road for the first time after enjoying a 3-0 success at nine-man Bristol City last week.

He sticks with the line-up which eventually impressed at Ashton Gate which means winger Andros Townsend, a recent loan signing from Tottenham, remains on the bench.

Leeds: Lonergan; Smith, Lees, O'Dea, Pugh; Snodgrass, Delph, Clayton, White; Becchio, McCormack. Subs: Taylor, Bruce, Nunez, Brown, Townsend.

Albion: Brezovan; Jara Reyes, Greer, El-Abd, Mattock; Bridcutt, Navarro, Buckley, LuaLua; Barnes, Vokes. Subs: Ankergren, Calderon, Vicente, Noone, Mackail-Smith.

Referee: Graham Salisbury (Lancashire)

Really surprised to CMS dropped to the subs bench. So much for all this Vokes is here to help him. I thought it would be the 4-4-2, but with Vokes and CMS up front supported by Buckley and Lualua on the flanks.

Too, Calderon dropped in favour of Reyes. Again so much for th "Calderon is the best player I have brought in" !!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent line-up. Thoroughly confident, hope no one tears their legs up on the hard pitch!

Positive line up. Some surprises. 2-0 Albion.

Some hard and probably physical games coming up, starting today. Squad rotation keeps the opposition guessing and the players fresh.

Dunk apparently has had a virus and it would be nice to think he'll be back on Tuesday evening - JFC is a mystery but hopefully we will see him against Millwall and maybe at Anfield. Maybe CMS will be back alongside Vokes on Tuesday too... but what do I know (please don't reply to the latter!).

JFC simply is ousted from the match day squad by players who at the current time can offer more than him - this is the strongest bench we have had all season
