Poyet warns players not to sulk

Gus Poyet wants players to react positively when they are left out Gus Poyet wants players to react positively when they are left out

Albion chief Gus Poyet has warned his players to take it on the chin if they are left out.

Poyet has some tough choices to make again for Millwall’s visit to The Amex tonight and he doesn’t want anyone missing out to sulk.

He told The Argus: “It’s difficult to convince the players sometimes but I like to see the reactions. It is very important for the future of this football club to see how players can cope with playing or being on the bench or being in the stand.

“I would like every single player at this football club to be able to go and be part of the squad at Manchester United or Chelsea or any big team and when you find yourself on the bench you won’t complain.

“Because it’s Brighton they think they should play every week. We can play 11, I’m the manager, so I need to make decisions. If we win everybody is happy, if we lose it is my responsibility, so it’s not a problem.”

Lewis Dunk has recovered from illness and record buy Craig Mackail-Smith, Spanish star Vicente and winger Craig Noone are all in contention to start after coming off the bench in the second half of Saturday’s last-gasp 2-1 win at Leeds.

Poyet said of the hot competition for places: “The team needs to gain from this, to get better and stronger. If I make the right decisions we should be a better team.

“For the kind of manager I am there is nothing better. It’s all down to me now. I didn’t like to make excuses when I didn’t have the full squad. Now I have got the full squad why am I going to complain?”

Good positive stuff. Fascinated to see who starts tonight. Tough tough game after Millwall won their last two away and scored 6 in the process. We will need to be on our game as I think they will make changes and go for the win.

A far more important game than Liverpool, at home and a win could launch us back into the play off zone!! So important to keep the momentum going. Viva Vicente!!!!!

Every team will be wanting to be the first to beat us in 2012, each game is taking on more importance than the last, sorry about stating the obvious but I'm so excited before every match now, lol

No place for sulking. We are winners and there's no sulking when you are winners. Sulking is for losers.
