Noone won't celebrate Liverpool goal

Craig Noone will not be doing this if he scores Craig Noone will not be doing this if he scores

Craig Noone will not celebrate if he scores against his beloved Liverpool in the FA Cup at Anfield on Sunday.

Albion's Liverpudlian winger revealed to The Argus: "I've thought about scoring and playing there. If I am lucky enough to do that and score it will be a dream come true.

"I wouldn't celebrate, just out of respect really to the club I love and support.

"I am still a supporter now and go to Liverpool games as much as I can.

"I've been to Tottenham and Fulham to watch them this season and hopefully I am going to Wembley (Carling Cup final)."

Noone is hoping to be involved in the fifth round tie after appearing as a substitute in the last two games against Leeds and Millwall.

He has not started a match in 2012 due to a hamstring injury sustained in the New Year's Eve defeat at Coventry but was named man-of-the-match in Albion's 2-1 defeat by Liverpool in the Carling Cup at The Amex earlier in the season.

If he is not prepared to celebrate if he scores, then his mentality might prevent him from scoring if he has the chance. Not being negative. Just a thought

Quite agree Saraman - if Nooney is so concerned about damaging his beloved Liverpool then maybe he shouldn't play. Not necessarily knocking him - if i played against the Albion I would have a major problem with trying to beat them too. Not that likely these days but even at 40 still waiting for the call from Harry, Arsene, Sir Alex...

Yeah agree with you both...showing them too much respect..not good. Love Nooney but wrong attitude!

If recent Poyet selections are anything to go by then both Noone and LuaLua will be warming the bench.

And LL will come of the bench before Nooney now. His reluctance to celebrate if he scored would make it easier for Gus to let him go at the right price, The more I think about his reluctance to celebrate the more it bothers me. He should not have allowed his thoughts to go to print. What sort of message is that sending to Albion fans? Shot and foot comes to mind. Any player is thrilled to put one over on his previous club or supported club.

Sorry to go on about Nooney but surely it is not a case of not celebrating against his favourite club, but celebrating on behalf of his current club who pay his wages.

So what about respectfully kissing our club badge in front of the Kop.

I don't see a problem, as long as he doesn't celebrate any Liverpool goals.

Not the greatest of comment to make !!
Probably reads worse than it is, cos I'm sure he'd love nothing more than to score in front of his family and friends, but a comment he should have kept to himself ! I'm sure he'll be up for it if he gets the chance. Reminds me a bit of Dennis Law scoring for Man City against Man Utd and condemning them to relegation ! He was a great Pro and he relegated the team he loved because he was a true Pro. I'm sure Craig will be professional about his responsibilities too and I know how much he's looking forward to the tie.

Like Henrik Larsson did against Celtic?
Like Murray did at the Amex?
He is a Liverpool fan but do you think he would rather watch them in the final or play for Brighton in the final?
You lot are mental if you think he will spurn the chance to score at Anfield, or think he lacks commitment to the Albion cause.

Absolutely! Think it's just a case of an honest young lad with foot and mouth syndrome. Didn't think through the possible implications of what he said. Doesn't mean he wouldn't want to score. Think it should be taken at face value without over analyzing.

Get over it you lot, there's plenty of players that do this.

He got the man of the match award and was told by Gerrard that he was the best player on the pitch in the Carling cup game, so I'm sure it won't affect his performance.

Exactly! Ridiculous over-reaction from some on here. Lighten up guys! Of course Nooney will be professional and passionate in his play...as usual!
