Albion delight at clean sheet

Albion - and Peter Brezovan - bounced back from an Anfield mauling to keep an excellent clean sheet at Hull tonight.

A game rich in attacking play and shots on goal somehow ended up 0-0 with the big keeper making three super saves.

Liam Bridcutt, who suffered such misfortune on or near his own goal-line at Liverpool, was initially Albion's saviour this time in only the seventh minute.

Bridcutt got back to clear off the line after Cameron Stewart had placed a low shot beyond Brezovan.

The keeper later did well to deflect a Matty Fryatt shot wide and outwit Stewart in a one-on-one.

Stewart then hit the top of the bar from the edge of the box.

Albion also had their moments though, several of them stemming from the hard work of recalled Craig Mackail-Smith.

The striker twice shot too close to keeper Vito Mannone and also won a free-kick which Kazenga LuaLua fired wide.

Debutant Abdul Razak produced brilliant footwork to beat two defenders and saw his angled drive pushed behind by Mannone.

The Italian keeper, who had not conceded in his previous five matches for Hull, was alert after the break to push away a shot from Mackail-Smith, who tried to surprise him inside his near post.

There were nervous moments around Brezovan's goal too, notably when sub Aaron Mclean fired a great chance well over on 77 minutes.

Brezovan thwarted Fryatt in another one-on-one and held a Mclean overhead kick in the final seconds.

On-loan Gai Assulin came on as sub for Albion in the closing stages and with his first run beat two men to win a free-kick from which Gordon Greer headed over.

Good result tonight, I'm happy with that point, which means a team that were in the Premier League last season have failed to beat us this season.

The 2 Man City lads sounded good and I'm looking forward to seeing them on Saturday. Shame to hear Buckley was out of sorts tonight when he came, hopefully that'll get sorted.

Well done Albion, a good point against an in form team. Let's have 3 on Saturday please!

solid performance, solid defence, no goals conceded, good performances from Sunday's suspects = perfect antidote to Anfield.

Good result after Sunday's setback and 5 live commentators seemed impressed by both Razak and Assulin. Bring on the Tractor boys!

M.O.M. performance from Brez' making some decent saves, and justifying Gus's faith in him.
Encouraging debuts by the City guys. (Seagulls Player commentary).
A hard earned, and welcome point, considering Hull's recent record.

Pleased Brez seems to have had a good game. Looked shaky in the last 2 but competent b4 that. CMS back where he should be and the City guys sound like the creative players needed. Really looking forward to Saturday. Hoping all the new guys gel quickly ready for play off push.

Very good point coming off the back of that defeat at Anfield, which keeps us in the playoff hunt. The boys showed some character. Hopefully, we'll be able to field a slightly more adventurous lineup at home as I'm desperate to see CMS back in the goals. Going to be just as tough at home to Ipswich on Saturday as I believe they have won their last four, including a 5-1 thrashing of the Hammers.

Violent agreement on the board for once! Great point. Roll on Saturday. They are on a decent run, but then again (ignoring Anfield) so are we!

Joe, pedantic I know, but Hull have been back down for a while....it was Blackpool, Brum and Wet Sham who were relegated last term.

Why was Brez even playing?, Barnes and Navs useless. League 2 standard at best, etc, etc, etc

Gus out. Armchair managers in.

A good point earned with more chances being created than previous games. Although Hull created a lot of chances a majority were from outside the box but Brez did his job when needed. Razak looked good with the ball but will need to work hard when we are defending which I am sure Gus will rectify. He also suffered with his fitness towards the end hence his substitution. A long journey home but a satisfying evening.

Cheers mate, not pedantic at all and I appreciate the correction. I did wonder as I was typing it actually but I was too tired to check!

When did I ever refer to him as a messiah? All I'm saying is that Gus, as manager of the football club, is entitled to pick whatever team he likes. He also has a better idea of what, and who, works or doesn't.

I'm pretty sure that the players that have been criticised have been part of a team that is unbeaten in the league in nearly two months, so they must be doing something right.

Great point tonight, not many sides will get anything at hull this season. We have a solid squad to choose from now, just hope gus and co can keep them all happy. Would love to see two wingers, bridcutt and Razak in midfield playing two up top (CMS & Vokes) against Ipswich. 3 points a must Saturday if hopes of play offs is to be a reality. Whatever happens this season I am so happy to be a seagulls fan. New ground and an ever improving squad - thank you so much TB!!!!!

Well satisfied with a point away against a team in the top half of the league particularly following our heavy defeat in the Cup.
Ipswich are on a winning run at the moment, hope we field an attacking side and take the game to them.

Surely this board is about being an armchair manager, and debating views. Ignoring the idiotic response from some after Sunday it is normally just about ok.

Gus , please play Vokes and CMS up front together !!!! We want goals not just last minute scrape throughs .... The two new lads in the middle with Bridcut holding and a winger with a free role to roam !!! The two new full backs with over lapping runs gives us plenty of width ! With JFC , Vicente , Toby ,and Nooney on the bench .... I dont understand how players like Barnes and Navs are still getting games when we have better sat on the bench ! Vicente or Navs ? Barnes or Vokes ? I love this club i just want the best team to play .... We are all armchair managers , thats because we are all passionate fans that love our club ! SEAGULLS !!! GG

Sorry, maybe I worded it wrong. I was only talking about Hull, not all former PL teams.
