Gus Poyet admitted Albion were well below their best as they lost 3-1 at Blackpool today.
Kevin Phillips scored twice as the Seagulls were hustled to a first league defeat of 2012 after going ahead early on through Joe Mattock.
Boss Poyet said: "We didn't perform, we weren't at our best, we weren't making good decisions, we didn't win a header and they scored.
"It wasn't us. There is no drama, no excuses.
"Too many players didn't perform at their best and that is difficult to cope with.
"We needed to be brave and make decisions and we didn't.
"There is no one to blame apart from ourselves."
Albion lost Gonzalo Jara Reyes to a straight red card on 57 minutes after he fouled Keith Southern.
Blackpool boss Ian Holloway agreed the Chile star was unlucky to go.
Holloway said: "He tried to win the ball, was a little bit late, Keith didn't make a meal of it, he was only a little bit hurt. In the light of that, it's a yellow."
