Bridcutt expected to extend Albion contract
5:00pm Friday 4th May 2012 in Sport By Andy Naylor
Liam Bridcutt
Liam Bridcutt is ready to commit his long-term future to Albion.
The Seagulls will offer their player of the season a contract extension to reward his efforts.
And Bridcutt has no intention of going anywhere else.
The influential holding midfielder has a year remaining on his current deal.
His stay will be stretched as boss Gus Poyet wants to build the midfield around him.
Bridcutt, 22 next week, missed only three Championship matches for Albion this season.
The former Chelsea trainee’s consistent performances won him the fans’ vote as Albion’s best player ahead of skipper Gordon Greer.
Bridcutt, linked with Swansea earlier in the season, recently became a father for the first time and is settled in Brighton.
His agent, former Albion No. 1 Mark Cartwright, told The Argus: “Liam’s extremely happy and I expect him to be staying at Brighton.”
Bridcutt joined Albion at the start of last season, initially on a short-term contract, after Alan Navarro suffered a serious knee injury.
They often partnered each other in front of the back four this season but the out-of-contract Navarro has revealed via his twitter account that he is not being offered a new deal.
Meanwhile, Albion are looking both at home and abroad for a new goalkeeper.
Targets include Gornik Zabrze’s Polish under-20 international Lukasz Skorupski, who is also on the radar of Spurs and Newcastle and is wanted by German club Borussia Moenchengladbach.
Skorupski, 21 tomorrow, would prefer a move to England but Poyet may regard him as too much of a gamble.
The Albion players are now on holiday after their final training session yesterday.

He's still in the earlier part of his career so there's plenty more to come from him. Can see him being a stalwart of the team as we continue our rise towards our PL destiny.
As for the Polish keeper: interesting! Of course I've never heard of him but if he is a prospect let's make a move!
Our scouting network is ever expanding and greatly increases our capacity to spot a future star.
All is moving along nicely.

And if you really can't do that, try not quoting what it has written so that ordinary fans don't have to read the dross again and again. It's just a t**t.

When people like HoveParkResident dish out their moronic vitriol, try ignoring it. That way it'll go away in the end.

Changing the subject just a tad, I find it fascinating that the young Polish international keeper may be considered a bit of a gamble for Brighton whilst Borussia, Spurs and the Toons think he is worth tracking. Maybe when the time comes and they do gamble we can get one of their more tried and tested rejects... sadly, I now feel we really are lacking in this department...

Why bother wih H p r. We,ve had a blinding season and have got a great season in prospect. L B staying just shows what we have got going for us. We do need IMHO. a solid commanding keeper and a tall natural striker. Sure that may be on the cards. Let's be Positive. come on the Albion.....

If they cost transfer fees you have to be pretty sure in what you are getting. Young player from another country may be a good player there but really difficult to predict if they will settle here.
